TOLEDO, OH—Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo and Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan, OH, are partnering to bring the agency’s crisis navigation services to Williams County residents.
“The westward expansion of Catholic Charities social services is one of the pillars of The Diocese of Toledo’s strategic plan and a longtime goal of Catholic Charities,” says Rodney Schuster, Executive Director of Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo. “We are thankful for the leadership of Father Andrew Wellmann, pastor of Saint Patrick Catholic Church in Bryan, to help make this opportunity possible.”
Office space will be provided by the Bryan parish and funds from the Diocesan “Living Christ” Campaign will provide funding for the hiring of a Crisis Navigator. This full-time Catholic Charities staff member will provide case management services, budget tools, life skills support, and resources and referrals to parish families and residents of Williams County.
“We are very excited about this opportunity to better serve our families and residents of Williams County,” says Fr. Wellmann. “The Crisis Navigator will support our parish’s ongoing efforts to care for those in need and all will benefit from the expertise and problem-solving support of a trained caseworker.”
Rodney Schuster, Fr. Wellmann and Dana Walsh, Catholic Charities Program Director of Social Services, met with staff from Harbor, a behavioral health agency, and the Sanctuary Homeless Shelter, and both agencies attest to the need for greater support for families in need and the homeless in Williams County.
“Catholic Charities mission is to provide transformative and life-changing services and support to all who come to us in need, regardless of background or faith,” Schuster adds. “The Crisis Navigator will also help form community connections and collaborations that will reveal unmet needs in Williams County.”
Catholic Charities serves people of all faiths and backgrounds living in the 19 counties of the Diocese of Toledo, providing food, shelter, crisis and case management, prescription, utilities and emergency rent assistance, education, adult advocacy services, disaster relief and various social justice ministries.
