TOLEDO—Thank you for all your support! Our 13th Annual Helping Hands of St. Louis Shoe Fest held the last Saturday of July 25 was a success because of you! Each year this event helps each child start their school year off on the right foot!
“This year we provided new shoes, socks and school supplies to more than 900 school-age children,” says Sue Shrewsbery, Director of Helping Hands of St. Louis. "We focus on East Toledo families, but no child will be turned away, if we have their size shoe. First come, first served."
Hundreds of volunteers are needed at various times to sort shoes, socks, school supplies, snacks and set-up and tear down after the event! We greatly appreciate all who turned up to volunteer, especially the youth, church and service groups. Upwards of 150 volunteers are needed on event day alone!
Donations of new athletic shoes, children’s socks, backpacks and school supplies such as paper, pencils, pens, markers, crayons, glue sticks, dry-erase markers, hand sanitizer, tissues and Ziploc bags were placed into grade appropriate bags.
If you are interested in organizaing a donation drive for our Helping Hands of St. Louis Food Pantry, Kitchen, or Clothing Center, please contact Sue Shrewsbery, Director of Helping Hands of St. Louis, 419.691.0613, ext. 4101, or sshrewsbery@toledodiocese.org.
