Crisis Navigator - Full-Time, HOPE Food Pantry in Mansfield, OH,

The Crisis Navigator is responsible for providing case management services to eligible families and individuals. The position will be required to perform crisis navigation with clients, utilize community services, and develop plans.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide ongoing case management services to help navigate other available services and resources, access and refer to other community agencies as appropriate to meet client needs, and perform follow-up to ensure community services are provided and reassess the situation if needed.

  • Provide initial assessments, determine program eligibility, and establish case files for new clients assigned to their caseload.

  • Assists clients in developing and achieving program goals and objectives to ensure clients gain stability.

  • Assist the Pantry Specialist in the day-to-day operations of the pantry, including but not limited to: stocking, checking in guests, shopping with guests, and accepting donations. Maintain comprehensive case files on an ongoing basis, consistent with requirements established by the Program Coordinator. All client files should be kept up to date and always organized.

  • Facilitate one-on-one interviews with clients to determine eligibility for the program or to connect with community resources. Be able to create individualized budget plans.

  • Work with the Program Coordinator and staff, which may include managing case files, entering monthly statistical data into the database, and restocking forms.

  • Attend all facility, agency staff, and community meetings, as well as training sessions, as needed.   

  • Ensures that all clients are protected in terms of dignity, rights, confidentiality, and standard of service.

  • Maintains data and statistics on clients as required by funding agencies and Catholic Charities.

  • Assists in providing workshops for clients if needed, such as money management workshops.

  • Regular attendance is essential for this position.

  • Demonstrates a passion for the agency’s mission and values and a drive to put them into action.

  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • An entry-level position requires prior knowledge or experience in Social Services or another related field. A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, or sufficient work-related experience, is preferred.   

  • Must be able to work with diverse groups of people, break down complex client issues, identify the underlying needs of individuals, and develop a plan.

  • Must know community resources.

  • Be a pleasant, compassionate ear to those who are struggling or facing emergencies. 

  • Must have a valid driver’s license and reliable transportation depending on work location. 

  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills, including being courteous on the phone.

  • Pursue this ministry with energy and drive.
  • Must successfully pass the required BCI/FBI background check before employment and every five years thereafter.
