Due to the ongoing federal government shutdown, funding for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits was suspended, leaving thousands of families and seniors in our communities without access to essential food assistance.
This means:
No SNAP benefits for low-income households.
No federal safety net for families struggling to put food on the table.
Thousands reaching out to us for help.
We have already spent over $20,000 more for food this fiscal year as compared to last year at this time to ensure no one is sent away hungry at our food pantries and shelters in Mansfield, Norwalk and Toledo.
We now turn to our communities to help us sustain and expand our food program operations.
This is a moment that calls for compassion, courage, and community. As Catholics, we are guided by the Gospel to care for the poor, feed the hungry, and protect the dignity of every person.
