Help Neighbors In Need Enjoy The Holidays!
TOLEDO, OH—With your help, Helping Hands of St. Louis, in Toledo, makes the holidays special for many who would otherwise go without.
Donations of turkeys, boneless hams, instant mashed potatoes, and other side dishes are needed, along with gravy and onions. (Please no bone-in hams, as they have to be taken to a butcher for carving.) Helping Hands will serve their Thanksgiving Meal on Tues., Nov. 21, and their Christmas Meal on Thurs., Dec. 21.
Each year, upwards of 200 Christmas Food Baskets are prepared for needy families, containing enough food for three or four meals. Items needed are: turkeys and boneless hams, stuffing mix, canned gravy, canned sweet potatoes, canned fruit, butter, eggs, oil, dessert mix (cake, brownies, cheesecake, etc.) apples, oranges and onions.
The elves at Helping Hands are already collecting candy canes, new unwrapped toys for kids 12 and under, coats, mittens, gloves, hats, boots, shoes, socks and underwear. Also new gift items for the kids to pick from Santa’s Workshop to give as gifts to mom and dad are helpful. These will be handed out at their annual Children’s Christmas Party, Tues., Dec. 20.
We ask all donated items be dropped off by Dec. 13 to Helping Hands of St. Louis, 443 Sixth Street, Toledo, OH, so that they can be sorted and ready to go for these events. Questions? Contact Sue Shrewsbery at 419.619.0613 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
