Glass City Marathon - Catholic Charities Team

Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo is proud to be an official Charity Partner with the Medical Mutual Glass City Marathon on April 27, 2014.  As part of our 100th anniversary celebration in 2014, our team goal is to raise $50,000.

Visit www.catholiccharitiesteam.kintera.org to register for our team or to support our fundraising efforts.

Participants of all ages are welcome to walk or run at their own pace.  Participants will receive a team t-shirt, opportunity to win raffle prizes from our sponsors including a free pair of shoes from Dave’s Running Shop, running tips from last year’s Glass City Marathon winner, opportunities to tour our shelter and soup kitchen, a personalized online fundraising page, an invitation to the team dinner on April 26, and an opportunity to make a difference!

We are also happy to announce a partnership this year with Medical Mutual and the Catholic Schools Office of the Diocese of Toledo.  By participating on our team and raising funds to benefit Catholic Charities, Catholic schools have the opportunity to earn grants from Medical Mutual for health and wellness programs.  Team members affiliated with schools may also ask to have their donations credited to the school of their choice.

All participants must also register directly with the Glass City Marathon.  Early registration is encouraged for lower race fees. You may register for the following races at www.glasscitymarathon.org:

  • 5K Walk/Run
  • Half Marathon
  • Relay Race
  • Marathon

Once the handoff took place and I began my run, emotions took hold, and I understood I was running for a purpose … I had been able to tour Catholic Charities’ shelter and meet a few clients, which I thought of as I ran. ~ John Maher, 2013 Team Member

Whenever I found myself getting tired during training runs or on race day, I thought of the testimonies we’ve heard from Catholic Charities’ clients and their struggles to find some peace and happiness in their lives.  I realized my struggles while running were nothing in comparison.  There are so many people who deserve to be helped and it was great to be a part of a team that was able to raise so much money to help out those who need it!  ~ Ellen Huntebrinker, 2013 Team Member
