Catholic Charities Hosts Project Rachel Retreat for ‘Hope and Healing after Abortion’
AUG. 20, 2014—Catholic Charities’ Project Rachel program will host a retreat for “Hope and Healing after Abortion” from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 27, at a confidential location in northwest Ohio.
The retreat is offered to help women who experience grief, anxiety, depression or guilt after an abortion to find healing and peace. The event is open to women who have had an abortion recently or in the past. The retreat will include Scripture reflection, prayer and an opportunity to connect with a support system. The cost is $20 and includes lunch. Scholarships are available and pre-registration is required. This event is limited to 10 participants.
Project Rachel provides confidential resources to women and men suffering emotionally or psychologically after an abortion. A helpline at 1-888-456-HOPE connects callers with various local opportunities for healing, including professional counseling, reconciliation, and pastoral and spiritual guidance. Project Rachel also offers training opportunities to priests, mental health professionals and volunteers in order to better serve those who seek help.
“The grace of God is seen in forgiveness, and Project Rachel is a ministry that reaches out to those who are hurting,” said Tara Woodbury, program coordinator. “Some women carry around the pain of their abortion for years before they seek help. Project Rachel is a safe and confidential place to find healing and restoration.”
To register for the retreat or for more information about Project Rachel, please contact Tara Woodbury at 1-888-456-HOPE or firstname.lastname@example.org.
