Join Msgr. Marvin Borger for a Mass & Memorial Service Celebrating the Mercy of God, on Thursday, September 20, 2018, at 6:30 p.m., at St. Rose Parish, 215 E. Front Street, Perrysburg, OH. The Mass will be concelebrated by Rev. George Wenzinger and Rev. David Kidd. The Sacrament of Reconciliation will be before the Mass from 6 – 6:30 p.m.

Witness talks from those who have experienced infant loss and a Rose Procession will follow the Mass at 7:30 p.m. Fellowship will follow in St. Rose’s Church Cafeteria. All are welcome.

Helping Hands 5th Annual Shoe Fest August 11

TOLEDO—Upwards of 40 volunteers will spend the morning at Helping Hands of St. Louis, 443 Sixth St., Toledo, OH, washing children’s feet and fitting them with new shoes and socks to get their new school year off on the right foot. Face painting, games and children’s activities will keep the youngsters occupied as they wait their turn.

“Each year we’ve provided new shoes, socks and school supplies to nearly 300 school-age children,” says Sue Shrewsbery, Director of Helping Hands of St. Louis. “We focus on East Toledo families, but no child will be turned away, if we have their size shoe.

Shrewsbery notes children must be present to be fitted for shoes. Available sizes run Toddler size 10 through Youth size 6. First come, first served.

Various areaIMG_6054 Closeup churches, service groups and businesses are volunteering and many have donated new shoes and socks. Toledo Zoo Teens and AK Tube LLC, Walbridge, are the two largest volunteer groups, with teams of eight.

This year, over 300 pairs of new shoes were purchased through Samaritan’s Feet, with money raised from friends of Helping Hands of St. Louis, local children and a church in Illinois. One group of girls raised over $1,500.

Hannah’s Socks donated new socks. School supplies + bags were donated by Buckeye Health, Herzing University, and friends of Helping Hands of St. Louis. “Books for Buddies” will be passing out new and gently used books for children.

Sixth Street will be blocked off, but the parking lot across the street is accessible. A 5K route to run or a 1-mile walk will start at 10:30 a.m.

Attendees are asked to bring a baby item that will be donated to The Nest, a new Christian-based, free daycare center in Bowling Green, OH.

Backpack & School Supplies Drives Welcomed!

La Posada Emergency Family Shelter seeks backpacks and school supplies donations for children who are currently residing in the shelter, were La Posada house guests this past year, are currently in Permanent Supportive Housing, and families served at Helping Hands of St. Louis. Children will receive these school-year specific items at Catholic Charities 6th Annual Housing Support Picnic on Monday, August. 6.

MAUMEE, OH Join us! Catholic Charities Spring Gala: “I Served A Saint” with Mario Enzler & Bishop Daniel E. Thomas, will be held Tuesday, April 17, 2018 at The Pinnacle, 1772 Indian Wood Circle, Maumee. Both men will share their experiences serving under Pope John Paul II.

p. 5 - Mario EnzlerKeynote speaker Mario Enzler will share how his experiences serving as a member of the Vatican’s elite military corps, the Swiss Guard, and his relationship with Pope John Paul II, transformed him personally and professionally to become a better man, executive, and leader. He is currently a professor at The Busch School of Business and Economics at The Catholic University of America.

Also speaking will be The Most Reverend Daniel E. Thomas, Bishop of the DioBishop Thomascese of Toledo, who also served under Pope John Paul II for 15 years as an Official of the Congregation for Bishops at the Holy See, Vatican City State, and as an Adjunct Spiritual Director at the Pontifical North American College Seminary, Rome, Italy. On March 9, 1995, he was named Chaplain to His Holiness by Pope John Paul II and later named Prelate of Honor by Pope John Paul II on March 19, 2005.

TOLEDO, OH—Join us for an hour of peaceful prayer to end abortion, as the pro-life community of Northwest Ohio comes together for the 40 Days for Life Spring Prayer Vigil hosted by Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo’s Respect Life Ministry.

We’ll gather at 6 p.m. on Thursday, March 22, 2018, on the sidewalk of Capital Care abortion facility, 1160 W. Sylvania Ave., Toledo’s last remaining abortion clinic. We’ll pray and witness to bring the light of Christ Jesus to move the hearts and minds of all present to a deeper appreciation of the dignity of human life.
