TOLEDO GRANTS MANAGER

Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo seeks a full-time Grants Manager, who is responsible for coordinating all activities related to agency grants administration, including, but not limited to: seeking funding from private foundations and government-supported programs, preparing funding proposals and grant applications, communicating with funding agencies, working closely with internal stakeholders on funding opportunities, participating in grant-related audits, submitting timely reports required by funding entities and maintaining a comprehensive grants plan.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Conducts preliminary, high-level research on new funding opportunities for agency programs, to vet whether it fits Catholic Charities mission and core values, fills an existing funding need, or provides a new service opportunity;
  • Maintains frequent communication with Agency Program Coordinators, to understand the needs of each ministry;
  • Acts as the primary, executive-level contact for all Agency grants;
  • Responsible for monitoring and communicating grant application, grant renewal and grant reporting due dates;
  • Coordinates all information necessary for grant application and reporting;
  • Maintains individual grant files (paper and electronic) for each funding source and opportunity;
  • Maintains a master file of user id’s and passwords for all grant funding systems;
  • Directly submits all grant applications to funding agencies, or may delegate this authority to alternate Agency personnel;
  • Maintains a dynamic grants plan, which includes existing, ongoing grants, as well as grant applications and potential funding opportunities;
  • Works closely with grant accounting personnel to ensure appropriate monitoring of grant spending and balances, to obtain necessary financial reports and information for grant applications and reports;
  • Initiates grant start-up meetings when notices of funding received, to ensure appropriate communication of new and renewal grant information to necessary stakeholders;
  • Regular attendance is essential for this position;
  • Demonstrates a passion for the agency’s mission and values and commits to the teachings of the Catholic Church; and
  • Performs other related duties as assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Business Administration or equivalent. Basic knowledge of accounting/budget preparation. Minimum of 3 to 5 years of creating, editing and coordinating grant proposals or related materials preferred. Requires excellent written and oral communication skills. Must be computer literate and familiar with various computer programs and tools used in proposal/presentation preparation. Demonstrates knowledge of issues of diversity and their effect in the workplace as reflective of the population served. Ability to perform multi-task assignments simultaneously. Ability to meet strict deadlines. May require lifting up to 20 lbs., as well as bending and stooping.
  • Requires high level of knowledge of Microsoft Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
  • Must maintain a high level of attention to quality, detail, accuracy, and efficiency.
  • Must be able to organize and prioritize work, be proactive, take initiative, resolve complex problems, follow through, and simultaneously manage multiple priorities.
  • Exercise considerable independence and judgment, with a high level of confidentiality, working with sensitive and privileged information.
  • Must successfully pass the required BCl/FBI background check prior to employment and every five years.

TOLEDO – JUSTICE MINISTRY COORDINATOR

Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo seeks a full-time Justice Ministry Coordinator to facilitate Jail and Prison Ministries and oversee and coordinate activities involving Immigration, Care for our Common Home, and the Catholic Campaign for Human Development in the Diocese of Toledo.

The Coordinator recruits, trains and supports volunteers in pastoral services for the specified ministries, under the guidance of the Director of the Office for Life and Justice. Duties include: coordinating the Church’s presence in jails/prisons; identifying, researching, educating and advocating on public policy/ legislative issues from the perspective of Catholic Social Teaching; and working in collaboration with the Respect Life Ministry  Program Coordinator to advance goals of the Office for Life and Justice. 

Masters degree in related field (theology, social services) preferred. Must have knowledge of Catholic Social teaching and a passion for promoting life and justice. Experience in program planning and implementation is preferred. Must have good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively in verbal and written form. Must be able to successfully pass a BCI and FBI background check. The successful candidate will have good organizational skills and be self-motivated. The ability to travel throughout the 19-county diocese and work flexible hours (evenings, weekends) is required.

TOLEDO – FULL-TIME EXECUTIVE ASSISTANT

Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo has an opening for an experienced Executive Assistant. The Executive Assistant acts as a strategic partner to and provides support for the Executive Director, the Board of Directors, and key committees.

The successful candidate must be discrete with confidential information, produce consistently professional work, and be comfortable handling a variety of duties throughout the day. A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel), as well as the ability to compose grammatically correct correspondence is required. The successful candidate must have excellent communication and organizational skills and value attention to quality and detail. 

Specific duties include: representing the office of the Executive Director by welcoming visitors, reviewing correspondence, handling calls, answering questions and arranging meetings; attending Board and other staff meetings/ taking and distributing meeting minutes; and maintaining an accurate and detailed calendar for the Executive Director.  

The successful candidate will have at minimum a high school diploma, with at least 5 years’ office experience in advanced administrative duties. An associate or bachelor’s degree is preferred. Candidates must successfully pass BCI/FBI background checks. The candidate should also demonstrate a strong faith commitment.

TOLEDO PART-TIME ACCOUNTING ASSISTANT

Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo seeks a Part-Time Accounting Assistant to work 20 to 24 hours per week initially, with potential for increased hours, benefits and future full-time position. Flexible, but consistent schedule.

Requirements: Proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel and ability to learn and use accounting software. Experience in MIP software is a plus but not required. Experience with a variety of office equipment and excellent organization and prioritization skills. Associates degree in Accounting and two years of experience. Candidates must successfully pass BCI/FBI background checks. 

Duties:

  • Entry of journal entries into accounting software (corrections, monthly repetitive, deposits)
  • Copies, filing, organization
  • Assistance with grant documentation as directed
  • Ability and willingness to be mentored and become a back-up person for Accounts Payable
  • Accounts Payable / Purchase order coding corrections / hardcopy
  • Additional duties in support of our Finance Department, to be determined
  • Gift Card Inventory
  • Maintain Finance Reference Library
  • Maintain Storage area – document retention flow

Rate of pay: $12.00 to $14.00 per hour

NORWALK PART-TIME RESIDENTIAL SPECIALIST

Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo seeks a Part-Time Residential Specialist at the Miriam House in Norwalk, Ohio. The Miriam House is a transitional housing program for women and children. The Residential Specialist will assist the Senior Residential Specialist and Case Manager in all functions of programming for the residents and operations of the facility. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: receiving and greeting visitors; answering phones; maintaining daily staff logs; providing assistance and direction to residents; maintaining house and premises; and assuring all rooms are ready for occupancy.

Applicant must be a high school graduate with good communication skills and the ability to relate and provide direction to a diverse population. Weekend and Holiday work is required. Candidates must successfully pass BCI/FBI background checks.

These staff members will prepare meals for residents, assist the senior residential specialist and program coordinator, maintain daily staff logs, provide assistance and direction to residents, and ensure all rooms are ready for occupancy.

Candidates must have a high school diploma or equivalent, excellent communication skills, and the ability to relate to and provide direction to a diverse population. These positions will work on any shift, and weekend work may be required. Candidates must successfully pass BCI/FBI background checks.
