Catholic Charities Offers "Serving Like Christ" Workshop

TOLEDO, OH—The “Serving like Christ” Workshop will be held from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m., Friday, March 1, at Helping Hands of St. Louis, 443 6th Street, Toledo, OH 43605. This invitation is extended to anyone associated with Catholic Diocesan ministries and outreach.

This free workshop, facilitated by Brian Rome, Program Coordinator for Catholic Charities of the Diocese of Toledo’s Family Support and Guidance Ministry, will help you identify Christ-centered direct service practices and assist faith-based service providers learn how to effectively incorporate ministry into their programs.

Brian has over 30 years of experience in social services and provides financial literacy, self-empowerment and emergency prevention/intervention education opportunities to both the disadvantaged and professionals in the 19-county Diocese of Toledo. Brian is a trained HUD Housing Counselor, Bridges Out of Poverty Trainer and Ministry Leader.

Catholic Charities Seeks Consumer Resource Fair Exhibitors

MANSFIELD, OH—Catholic Charities is seeking exhibitors for the Ninth Annual Consumer Resource Fair to be held, Saturday, March 2 at the Richland Mall, in Mansfield, OH. Participating organizations will provide free information on such topics as managing money and debt, protecting personal identification, wellness, and avoiding identify theft and scams.

The resource fair, hosted by Catholic Charities, will be from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. as part of National Consumer Protection Week.

Registration for an exhibit space is free. Only 30 exhibitor spaces are available, and the deadline to register is Feb. 22. To register, please contact Laurie Hamrick, at 419-524-0733, ext. 226 or email lhamrick@toledodiocese.org.

Catholic Charities has partnered with the Ohio Attorney General’s office for nine years to host this Consumer Resource Fair to educate and empower the community. This year, National Consumer Protection Week is March 3-9.

 

Join Our 40 Days for Life Prayer Campaign!

TOLEDO, OH—Join us as we pray and seek God’s grace that we will save more lives than ever during our ecumenical 40 Days for Life campaign! The campaign runs in Northwest Ohio Wednesday, March, 6 through Sunday, April 14, 2019.

You can participate in three ways: prayer and fasting, community outreach and peaceful vigil. We invite you to pray for an hour in front of Capital Care Network, the Toledo abortion clinic, located at 1160 W. Sylvania Avenue. You can sign up for a prayer time at: www.40daysforlife.com/toledo.

Since the international 40 Days for Life Campaign began in 2007, over 750,000 volunteers in over 40 nations have stood in prayerful witness at abortion clinics to witness to the dignity of human life. Through these prayerful campaigns, over 14,000 lives have been saved, 177 abortion workers have quit their positions, and 96 abortion facilities have shut down!

Prayer Vigil

Come be a peaceful witness to the dignity of every human life, born and unborn, by standing for one hour to pray for the sanctity of human life and to offer hope to women experiencing an unexpected pregnancy. 

May our prayer bring the light of Christ Jesus to move the hearts and minds of all present to a deeper appreciation of the dignity of human life. 

We pray and seek God’s grace the children scheduled to be aborted that week might be spared and given the gift of life!

TOLEDO, OH—Alumni and Friends of Saint Meinrad Seminary are invited to join in on the 3rd Annual Toledo Saint Meinrad Alumni & Friends Day of Service, from 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. at Helping Hands of St. Louis, 443 6th Street, Toledo, OH.

Sidewalk Advocates for Life Training Offered March 16

Learn how to reach out to women who are experiencing an unintended pregnancy. The time and location of this three-hour March 16 training is to be determined.

This training will also be offered from 6 – 9 p.m., on Wednesday, May 8, at St. Catherine of Siena Parish, St. Dominic Room, 4555 N. Haven Ave., Toledo, OH.

Project RachelJoin us to receive training on how to effectively and lovingly advocate for the lives of unborn children on the sidewalks of abortion facilities and dialogue with your family, neighbors and co-workers. You’ll learn how to articulate the Gospel of Life to a culture that desperately needs it!

Join Us Feb. 14 for the Catholic Business Network - Mr. Tom Hornacek

TOLEDO, OH—The Catholic Business Network’s speaker series, a ministry of Catholic Charities Diocese of Toledo, continues on Thursday, February 14, 2019. Our speaker will be Mr. Tom Hornacek, Community Outreach Director for Ave Maria Radio and Mission Team Leader for Renewal Ministries in Ann Arbor, MI.

He will share his journey from suffering and loss, to deliverance and freedom through Jesus Christ in his presentation, “From Lukewarm Catholic to Intentional Disciple.”  The free event will be held at St. Joan of Arc, 5856 Heatherdowns Blvd., Toledo, OH. Breakfast/networking begins at 7 a.m. Program at 7:30 a.m. is followed by optional Mass at 8:30 a.m.
